PUBLISHER'S SUMMARY:

Bill Murray left college to join the comedy troupe The Second City in Chicago and went on to be a writer and guest performer on Saturday Night Live from 1977 to 1980, for which he won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Writing in a Comedy, Variety, or Music Series. Since then he has appeared in more than 40 films. In 2004, Mr. Murray won the Golden Globe for best supporting actor and BAFTA's best actor award for Lost in Translation; he was also nominated for the Academy Award for best actor for his work in that film. In 1998, he won the Los Angeles Film Critics Association's award for best supporting actor for Rushmore and Wild Things. His work in Rushmore also garnered him the New York Film Critics Circle's Best Supporting Actor Award, among others. In 1984, he was honored with the Star of the Year Award by the National Association of Theatre Owners. Mr. Murray's most recent role is the title character in The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou. He can also be seen and heard in the 2004 films Coffee and Cigarettes and Garfield: The Movie. Some of his many other memorable films include Hamlet, Larger Than Life, Groundhog Day, What About Bob?, The Razor?s Edge, the Ghostbusters movies, Stripes, Caddyshack, and Meatballs.

Lynn Hirschberg has been on the Hollywood beat for almost 20 years, and she now stands at the nexus of the Los Angeles entertainment and New York publishing worlds, as Editor at Large for The New York Times Magazine. Ms. Hirschberg's career started at Esquire, Rolling Stone, and then Vanity Fair. She also worked at New York magazine for a year and then did a stint at The New Yorker. By 1996, Hirschberg was writing for The New York Times Magazine. She profiled Bill Murray in the magazine when he was starring in Rushmore.
