The President's unexpected death happened in his Georgia cottage where he had been resting from the rigors of trying to bring an end to World War II. Vice President Harry S Truman was sworn into the presidency just a few hours later. This is the address Truman gave to the Armed Forces regarding the death of FDR earlier that day.
